The design of the museum addition is centred around visual and physical access to the historic boat displays. A rustic maritime theme is reflected through a post and beam construction, and is in keeping with the port setting and history of the site. The rough-sawn timber beams and radially sawn weatherboard cladding will age to a rustic silver-grey.
