Licola Community Complex
Licola

Sited on community parklands to the north of the Macalister River, these high country gateway facilities were developed to rejuvenate the community following a series of natural disasters affecting the township.

Rough sawn construction and rotary sawn weatherboarding reflect historic timber huts of the area and nearby post and beam structures. Timbers are chosen for durability and interest and will age to the familiar silver-grey. Vertical elements in the structures – the link between hall and shed and the monoliths on the BBQ shelter and toilet block – echo old corrugated iron fireplaces and hoppers.
